
Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun's official visit to the United Arab Emirates concluded positively on Thursday, marked by key bilateral agreements and a pledge of increased support from Abu Dhabi to Beirut.
During his visit, President Aoun was received at the Al Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi by Emirati President Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, where the two leaders held “constructive” talks aimed at strengthening the relationship between their nations. A joint statement issued following the meeting highlighted their shared commitment to "reinforce fraternal ties" and collaborate on important issues across economic, diplomatic, and institutional sectors.
A major highlight of the visit was the announcement of an upcoming Emirati delegation to Beirut. The delegation will share the UAE's expertise in governance and institutional excellence, with the aim of bolstering both Lebanon’s public and private sectors. Additionally, a delegation from the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development is set to visit Lebanon to assess and evaluate potential joint projects, signaling a renewal of Emirati investment in Lebanon.
"The two sides agreed to allow citizens to travel after taking necessary measures to facilitate movement between the two countries and putting in place appropriate mechanisms," the statement said. Moreover, the two leaders announced plans to elevate diplomatic representation and establish a joint UAE-Lebanon Business Council to boost economic exchanges.
President bin Zayed reaffirmed the UAE’s unwavering support for Lebanon’s security, sovereignty, and stability, emphasizing Lebanon’s crucial role within the Arab world. In turn, President Aoun expressed his gratitude for the UAE’s steadfast support and reaffirmed his commitment to furthering bilateral relations.
