The Director General of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), Mohammad Karaki, announced a notable rebound in healthcare services and a gradual restoration of public trust, amid ongoing efforts to modernize and enhance transparency within the institution.
Karaki said the NSSF is working to update medical tariffs and ensure the continuity of payments to insured individuals, hospitals, and doctors, in order to guarantee sustainable and quality healthcare access.
According to NSSF figures, total healthcare payments reached 3.842 trillion Lebanese pounds between January and the end of September 2025, a 212% increase compared to the entire year of 2024, which recorded 1.811 trillion pounds.
The Fund also reported a sharp rise in reimbursement claims, reflecting renewed confidence in its role as a key player in Lebanon’s health security network. Outpatient medical reimbursements totaled 1.020 trillion pounds since the start of 2025, up 224% from 450 billion pounds in 2024.
In line with this positive momentum, Karaki announced three new advance payment packages for hospitals and doctors: 32 billion pounds for surgical procedures partially reimbursed at 60%, 46 billion pounds for non-surgical hospital care, and 27 billion pounds for surgeries reimbursed at 75%.
He emphasized that the NSSF is accelerating payments, often processed within a week, and called on insured members and healthcare providers to submit their documents in compliance with official procedures.
