During a short visit to Beirut, a high-level delegation from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) met with Lebanese leaders and international partners to strengthen cooperation and support projects aimed at transforming the country’s agricultural sector.
Talks with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and Minister of Agriculture Nizar Hani reaffirmed FAO’s long-term commitment to Lebanon. Officials stressed that the organization’s role goes beyond emergency relief, focusing instead on recovery, resilience and sustainable growth.
The delegation also engaged with international partners to explore ways of improving nutrition and accelerating the transformation of Lebanon’s agrifood systems.
FAO underlined that building strong partnerships is at the heart of its mission: creating food systems that are efficient, inclusive and sustainable, ensuring food security, economic stability and rural development, while leaving no one behind.
