Football: Lebanon U23 Defeats Malaysia in Its First Match

Lebanon got off to a perfect start in its Asian U23 qualifying campaign for Saudi Arabia 2026 by defeating Malaysia 1-0 on Wednesday in Bangkok. The decisive goal came from Ali El Fadel in the 84th minute, giving the young Lebanese team an ideal start to the competition.

Coach Jamal Taha, who had expressed his confidence before kickoff, emphasized the team's ambitions to qualify and its desire to build a new pool of players for the future. After preparations that included two training camps and friendly matches against Syria and Palestine, the team confirmed its efforts on the field.

Lebanon will now face host country Thailand on Saturday before concluding its group stage against Mongolia next Tuesday.
