Lebanon’s Minister of Labor Mohammad Haidar held a series of meetings during the 113th International Labor Conference in Geneva aimed at strengthening regional cooperation on employment and working conditions.

He met with the Syrian Minister of Labor Hind Kabawat, in the presence of both Lebanese and Syrian delegations. Their discussions focused on organizing the Syrian workforce in Lebanon in accordance with local laws, as well as improving labor conditions.

The two ministers agreed to maintain ongoing coordination to protect workers' rights, which is a top priority for the Lebanese ministry. Kabawat emphasized the importance of “turning the page on the past between the two countries” and working toward the return of Syrians to their homeland so they can contribute to its reconstruction.

Minister Haidar also held talks with his Iraqi counterpart, Ahmad Al-Asadi. They discussed Iraqi support for Lebanon and ways to facilitate Lebanese investments in Iraq. Asadi reaffirmed his country's commitment to Lebanese workers, particularly in the tourism sector.

In a meeting with Jordanian Minister of Labor Khaled Bakar, Haidar explored opportunities for cooperation, especially in the area of vocational training.

The Lebanese minister also met with ILO Director-General Fayez al-Mutairi to review ILO initiatives supporting his ministry, including training programs for staff and projects aimed at improving working conditions in the region.
