Minister of Agriculture Nizar Hani announced a significant step forward in opening up regional markets to Lebanese agricultural products. In a statement to the MTV television channel, he revealed that a large portion of foreign markets are now accessible, and that from May 10, the Jordanian market will once again welcome Lebanese citrus fruits, thanks to direct coordination with his Jordanian counterpart.

Lebanon also plans to increase the volume of bananas exported to Jordan, while continuing its shipments to Iraq. “Exporters are currently in the process of finalizing the procedures for obtaining their authorizations,” said the minister.

According to Hani, this dynamic is “a positive sign of the resumption of agricultural cooperation between Lebanon and its neighbors,” with particular emphasis on the return of overland exports, historically essential to the national agricultural sector.

Turning to the crucial issue of reconnecting with the Gulf countries, in particular Saudi Arabia, the minister stressed, “The road to the Gulf countries passes through Saudi Arabia first. The start of the resumption of exports, particularly by land, is an extremely encouraging sign, heralding the gradual reopening of markets with the Kingdom. We are optimistic.”
