The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) announced that it has disbursed nearly LBP 1,496 billion to hospitals, physicians and insured individuals since the beginning of 2025, according to a press release issued by its Public Relations Department.

Breaking down the figures, the NSSF detailed that LBP 710 billion was allocated for fixed-fee surgical procedures, LBP 448 billion for dialysis treatments and LBP 338 billion for other healthcare services, including medical consultations and medication provision.

The statement highlighted a notable acceleration in the pace of payments this year, with the Fund now making three disbursements per month. In just the first three months of 2025, the NSSF has already paid out an amount equivalent to 75% of its total healthcare expenditure for all of 2024.

In this context, NSSF Director General Mohammad Karaki signed Decision No. 375 on May 2, authorizing an additional LBP 53 billion payment to hospitals, which was transferred on Monday, May 5.

Simultaneously, and in line with a decision by the NSSF Board of Directors, the Fund will begin issuing advance payments equivalent to 75% of healthcare costs based on updated pricing scales. These advances are conditional on hospitals accepting all insured patients and adhering to official tariffs.

Moreover, Karaki emphasized that these financial disbursements are aimed at ensuring the continuity of healthcare services and rebuilding public trust in the Lebanese healthcare system. He urged healthcare institutions to cooperate with the Fund’s reform and modernization efforts, underscoring the importance of partnership in maintaining access to care during challenging times.
