The Price Index Committee met on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Caretaker Minister of Labor Moustapha Bayram as part of the follow-up to the increase in salaries and travel expenses for private sector workers.
At the end of the meeting, Bayram announced that it had agreed to approve an increase in private sector travel expenses from 250 thousand to 450 thousand pounds per day.
He pointed out that this is the nineteenth meeting in two years, which shows the importance of monitoring economic and social conditions between the three parties in production: the state, employers, and trade unions.
He recalled that the commission constitutes the institutional framework through which any increase or discussion is approved.
The employers presented the current economic situation, highlighting the impact of the war in Gaza and the resulting regional tension.
Given this economic situation, Bayram announced that the committee would be resuming its meetings at a steady pace.
