The Israeli army announced on Thursday that it had carried out several airstrikes targeting Hezbollah weapons depots and underground infrastructure in southern Lebanon.
Following a series of Israeli air raids on the western outskirts of Tayr Felsay (Tyre district) in southern Lebanon early Thursday, the Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee revealed the reasons behind the strikes.
In a post on X, Adraee said that “based on intelligence, a weapons depot and underground infrastructure used by Hezbollah were raided,” adding that the targeted site was located near civilian areas, evidence of Hezbollah’s “reckless use of the Lebanese population as human shields for the organization’s activities within civilian facilities,” he claimed.
He added that Israeli warplanes also carried out additional strikes against Hezbollah infrastructure in other areas of southern Lebanon.
It is worthy to note that the western outskirts of Tayr Felsay were hit in two successive waves, both targeting the same area.
At dawn on Thursday, Israeli warplanes also bombed the Khanouk area in the town of Aitaroun, launching two air-to-surface missiles near the site of a previous explosion that occurred two days earlier. In Naqoura, an Israeli drone reportedly dropped a sound bomb over the town’s entrance.
Throughout the night, residents in Nabatiyeh and surrounding towns reported heavy Israeli drone activity at low altitude. Israeli aircraft were also seen flying low over the Bekaa, Baalbeck, and northern Bekaa regions.
