Israel has accused the Lebanese army of “failing to take sufficient action to prevent Hezbollah from rearming”, warning that it will “continue its intensified airstrikes unless the situation changes”, according to a report published Saturday by Israel’s public broadcaster Kan.

According to the report, Jerusalem conveyed a message through the US-led truce mechanism overseeing the ceasefire, saying that Beirut has not been doing enough to enforce Hezbollah’s disarmament. Israel reportedly claimed that the Iran-backed group has smuggled hundreds of rockets from Syria, restored missile launchers damaged in previous clashes, and recruited thousands of new fighters, in violation of the November 2024 ceasefire agreement.

“You are not doing enough against Hezbollah, neither in pace nor in scale,” Israel reportedly warned. “Without significant action in rural areas and on private property, Israel will continue to strike forcefully.”

One dead in Israeli strike on Khirbet Selm

An Israeli drone carried out an airstrike on Saturday morning, targeting a vehicle in the southern Lebanese town of Khirbet Selm. According to initial reports, three missiles hit the pickup truck.

The Emergency Operations Center of the Ministry of Public Health announced that the strike resulted in one fatality. Preliminary information identified him as Hassan Ali Jamil Sultan.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces launched a sweeping search operation on the outskirts of Alma al-Shaab, using heavy weaponry. The escalation coincided with intense drone activity over several areas in southern Lebanon.

In addition, the Israeli army carried out earthworks at a newly established site in Jall al-Deir – Jabal al-Bat, near Aytaroun.

Since the November 2024 ceasefire, Israel has continued to carry out strikes across southern Lebanon, saying it targets Hezbollah positions. In recent days, the Israeli army has intensified its bombing campaign, killing several peoples in successive air raids on Thursday and Saturday.
