The Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) announced on Monday the release of 24 detainees from Sweida following sustained mediation efforts.

According to a statement from the party’s Media Commission, these releases are the result of ongoing communications and initiatives led by the party since the bloody events of July. The party intensified efforts over the past two days, after delays hindered the process of freeing hostages, which began following the announcement of the trilateral agreement signed in Damascus.

The statement emphasized that the party’s efforts aim to secure the release of all hostages and detainees, particularly women, in line with the roadmap established by the party’s former leader, Walid Joumblatt. This roadmap aligns with the trilateral agreement between Damascus, Amman and Washington.

In expressing gratitude, the PSP thanked all parties that supported and facilitated the release of detainees, marking a significant step toward resolving the ongoing crisis.

The party reiterated its commitment to pursuing the safe return of all detainees while maintaining close coordination with regional partners and international actors.
