The Lebanese Army launched the fourth phase of its plan to collect weapons from Palestinian camps, starting Saturday in Beddawi, North Lebanon, and Ain al-Hilweh in the south.

The step follows earlier phases coordinated under the supervision of the Lebanese-Palestinian Dialogue Committee.

Security measures were tightened at camp entrances as weapons, including light and medium arms, mines, anti-aircraft guns, and ammunition, were handed over. According to the committee, five truckloads of arms are expected to be delivered from Ain al-Hilweh and three from Beddawi, all to be transferred to designated army facilities.

Army units are inspecting the shipments, as the Beddawi handover is said to be complete.

The entire operation is expected to conclude by the end of the month as part of a broader Lebanese plan to restrict weapons to state authorities, bolstered by Arab and international support.

Abdel Hadi Al-Asadi, Director of Public Relations and Media for the Palestinian forces, confirmed the deliveries, stressing that “the move reflects the joint commitment of Lebanon and Palestine to strengthen stability and safeguard bilateral ties.”
