The Lebanese Army on Friday continued to collect weapons from Palestinian camps for the second consecutive day, as part of the government’s plan to ensure that arms remain under state control and to bolster security inside the camps.
According to reports, two separate batches of weapons are expected to be handed over by the Fatah movement from the Beirut camps of Shatila and Burj al-Barajneh.
The initiative is part of political and security agreements aimed at regulating weapons and strengthening stability in the camps.
On Thursday, Palestinian factions in the southern city of Tyre handed over truckloads of weapons from the Rashidieh, Burj al-Shamali and al-Buss camps.
