Lebanese Forces (LF) leader Samir Geagea stressed on Friday the need for all parties to abide by the government’s decision affirming the state’s exclusive control over weapons, following his meeting at the Grand Serail with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.

Geagea underlined that the decision, which asserts the government’s monopoly on arms, “is not selective, but its implementation has been fragmented.” “Everyone must comply with this decision,” he said, noting that broad consensus already exists on placing Palestinian weapons under the responsibility of the Lebanese Army.

“The government has already begun implementing this decision,” Geagea added. “What, then, justifies the opposition it is stirring?”

The LF chief emphasized that the time has come for matters in Lebanon to follow their natural course, affirming that the government is actively working toward this goal. He questioned the motives of those seeking to undermine Prime Minister Salam for pursuing the implementation of a decision that serves the national interest.
