After a series of surveillance and security operations, the Lebanese Armed Forces and the Army Intelligence carried out a raid on Thursday, August 21, 2025, in the Joroud Nahleh area of Baalbek. The operation targeted suspects involved in the kidnapping of a Syrian national identified as M.Y.
Several suspects were arrested, and the kidnapped individual was successfully freed. During the operation, the suspects opened fire on security forces, who responded in kind. The exchange resulted in the death of the gang leader, H.R., and the injury of another suspect, I.R.
Authorities seized firearms, ammunition, and military equipment. All confiscated items have been turned over to the relevant authorities, and the investigation into the arrested individuals is ongoing under the supervision of the judiciary.
