Fuel prices in Lebanon dropped significantly on Friday following the removal of a previously imposed tax. The measure, recently announced by the authorities, comes amid a challenging economic climate marked by persistent currency fluctuations and mounting pressure on consumers’ purchasing power.

The decision had an immediate effect, causing a sharp decline at the pump and offering motorists some much-needed relief.

It is worth noting that the measure was implemented after the Lebanese Forces filed an appeal against the government's May 19 decision to impose an additional fuel tax.

In response to the appeal, the State Council issued a ruling on July 16 suspending the enforcement of the tax.
