
Civil Defense units, supported by army helicopters, managed on Monday to contain the massive wildfire that broke out in Al-Qoubaiyat on Sunday. The fire caused severe damage to the environment and forest wealth.
Strong winds fanning the flames complicated the firefighters’ efforts to contain the fire. Work is currently underway to cool down residual hotspots.
A large-scale wildfire erupted on Sunday in the forested highlands of al-Qoubaiyat, Akkar, destroying vast areas of natural woodland.
According to the National News Agency, civil defense teams from across the region, including al-Qoubaiyat, al-Bireh, Menjez, Aidamoun, Deir Jinnine, Andaket, Shadra, al-Heesha and Wadi Khaled, worked to contain the blaze. However, strong winds are fanning the flames, complicated firefighting efforts making containment extremely challenging.
