Israeli Chief of Staff General Eyal Zamir announced on Wednesday that the Israeli military will press ahead with efforts to neutralize Hezbollah threats, citing national security imperatives and the need to protect northern Israeli communities.

Speaking during a situational assessment at the Israeli army’s Northern Command headquarters near the Lebanese border, Zamir asserted that the military campaign against Hezbollah remains “far from over.” He was joined by Northern Command chief General Ori Gordin and other senior officers. The visit and remarks were shared by the Israeli military’s Arabic-language spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, on the platform X.

“The Northern Command has changed the security reality on the ground and reinforced border security,” Zamir said, hailing the command’s achievements. “We are defending ourselves with our own forces. The battle against Hezbollah in Lebanon is not over. We will continue to pursue and weaken them until their collapse.”

Zamir also underscored that Israel’s military operations would not be confined by borders. “We will act beyond the borders to eliminate threats before they materialize,” he said.

“Our campaign is dictated by security needs, and we are working to shorten the war’s duration through operational superiority and decisive action on all fronts,” Zamir added.

Meanwhile, in comments to Al Arabiya television, an Israeli security source revealed that approximately 200 Hezbollah operatives have been eliminated since the last ceasefire. The source also noted a shift in Lebanon’s stance, saying, “The Lebanese government has begun to take responsibility and is taking effective steps.”

When asked about the potential targeting of Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem, the Israeli source responded, “We will do whatever is necessary.”
