Economic cooperation between Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) advanced on Tuesday with the arrival of a high-level Emirati delegation in Beirut, building on the momentum of President Joseph Aoun’s recent meeting with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi.
The delegation, led by Abdullah Nasser Lootah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange, met with President Aoun at Baabda Palace to discuss Lebanon’s current priorities and areas of potential collaboration.
“The current stage requires expanding cooperation and deepening our integration across education, governance, the public sector, private initiatives and investment especially in future economies such as knowledge, digitization and advanced technologies,” Aoun said during the meeting.
He welcomed the delegation as a tangible outcome of the strategic understanding reached in Abu Dhabi, describing their visit as “a practical translation of the deep and growing fraternal ties between our two nations.”
Aoun also expressed his appreciation for Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed’s ongoing support, which he said reflects a legacy of Emirati solidarity with Lebanon dating back to the founding vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Praising the UAE’s recent decision to lift its travel ban on Lebanon and resume direct flights, Aoun called the move “a strong sign of renewed trust and partnership.”
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Lootah said the visit reflects the UAE’s commitment to standing by Lebanon. “Our visit aims to shape partnership frameworks and share knowledge,” he said.
“We are here under direct instructions from His Highness the President to enhance cooperation and provide broad support,” he concluded.
