Ibrahim Zeidan was elected on Tuesday as the new head of the Beirut Municipality, in a session attended by Beirut Governor Judge Marwan Abboud and members of the newly elected municipal council. Ragheb Haddad was elected vice-president.
Following his election, Zeidan pledged to prioritize citizen services and address long-standing deficiencies. “The municipality will be at the service of citizens, and we will work to provide the missing services,” he said, adding that his team is unified and committed to working collaboratively.
“We want to preserve the capital, and the team is homogeneous and wants to work hand in hand,” he emphasized.
Zeidan’s deputy, Ragheb Haddad, also expressed gratitude to those who supported his election, stating, “We will be one hand in the new council for the good of Beirut.”
For his part, Governor Abboud welcomed the election results, asserting inclusivity and cooperation.
He noted that the municipal council reflects a broad political spectrum and said all parties would be represented in municipal committees.
“We agreed to include everyone in the committees and not to exclude anyone, so that all Beirutis have the right to participate. The next stage is one of work and production,” he concluded.
