Municipal Elections in South Lebanon: Jezzine Leads in Voter Turnout

The municipal and mukhtar elections were launched on Saturday at 7 a.m. in the mohafazats of South Lebanon and Nabatiyeh.

According to the latest reports from the Ministry of Interior, voter turnout in the South Lebanon and Nabatiyeh governorates stands has reached 18.90%.

The voter turnout by district is as follows:

  • Saida and Zahrani: 20.93%

  • Tyre: 17.83%

  • Jezzine: 25.04%

  • Nabatiyeh: 20.61%

  • Hasbaya: 19.70%

  • Marjayoun: 16.91%

  • Bint Jbeil: 14.20%

Furthermore, the number of complaints filed has reached 137, including 120 administrative and 17 media-related complaints.

Among the most notable incidents, a candidate from the “Sour Madinati” list, Hassib Aoudeh, was reportedly assaulted at the School of Tyre. While speaking with a journalist, he was verbally harassed by supporters of the rival list. When he protested, they violently attacked him and beat him severely.
