Lebanon’s exports surged by 30% in the first quarter of 2025, reaching $957 million, up from $735 million during the same period in 2024. This marks a significant improvement for a country with a chronically negative trade balance.
Jewelry, Lebanon’s top export category (43% of total exports), played a major role in this increase, with shipments soaring by 120% to $414 million.
Switzerland, the leading export destination, accounted for nearly 29% of total exports. Lebanese exports to Switzerland jumped eightfold, rising from $33 million in Q1 2024 to $277 million in Q1 2025.
Other notable increases were recorded in exports to Qatar (+44%), the United States (+24%) and Syria (+62%). Meanwhile, exports to Egypt fell by 24% over the same period.
