Following a sexual harassment incident involving several children during a school activity, the park where the incident occurred was sealed on Friday by judicial order from the Mount Lebanon Court of Appeal Prosecutor, Judge Mohammad Barakat.
Lebanon’s Internal Security Forces (ISF) announced on Thursday the arrest of a minor suspected of sexually harassing several young girls during a school outing in Mansourieh, in the Metn district.
According to the facts of the case, two parents reported to the Broummana police station on May 20, stating that their daughters had been assaulted by a young man while taking part in a school-organized event at an outdoor recreational site.
Following a swift investigation, which included the review of surveillance footage from the event location, ISF officers were able to identify three suspects. Further inquiries, in coordination with the site administrators, led to the identification and arrest of the primary suspect on the same day.
The individual, identified as R.H. (born in 2008), a Lebanese national and recently hired employee, was detained and questioned in the presence of a juvenile protection officer. While he initially denied any involvement, he later confessed to harassing several girls while they participated in zip-lining activities.
Legal procedures were promptly initiated, and the case was transferred to the appropriate authorities for further investigation, under the direction of the competent judiciary.
The ISF commended the bravery of the families in coming forward and urged the public to report any similar incidents to help prevent further abuse and protect vulnerable individuals.
