Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said on Wednesday that several foreign companies are interested in investing in Kleiate René Mouawad Airport, in northern Lebanon. He said that a master plan was being drawn up and that he would soon announce concrete projects during a future visit to the region.

During a meeting with the Mufti of Akkar, Salam stressed the importance of preserving security and stability in the north, particularly during the electoral process. He also recalled the strict directives given to the army and security forces for total control of the borders.

The Prime Minister called for the opening and reactivation of legal border crossings with Syria, believing that a return to stability in Syria could boost North Lebanon's economy and attract more investments.

Salam also received a delegation from the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development. The latter offered to take direct charge of feasibility studies for projects submitted by Lebanon, in order to speed up their implementation.
