
The Lebanese academy leaves its mark on the “Elite” aquatic festival with 70 medals and four national records.
They dove into the pools of Doha with fierce determination and the Lebanese flag close to their hearts. They emerged covered in glory. The swimmers of ProSwim Academy made a sensation at the prestigious international “Elite” competition in the Qatari capital, winning no fewer than 70 medals – including 22 gold, 29 silver and 19 bronze – and setting four new national records.
A Well-Oiled Operation
In a high-level tournament featuring 700 swimmers from 28 clubs and 12 countries, the ProSwim athletes delivered an outstanding performance. They even propelled the women’s team to third place overall, while the men’s team secured a strong fifth-place finish. To top it off, young Rafic Nsouli was crowned best swimmer in his age category – a testament to how Lebanese excellence shone in international waters.
New Records Set
The harvest did not stop at the medals:
• 4x50 m medley relay (girls 14-15 years): 2:07.74 min with Maria Saba, Thea Obeid, Yasmina Hajj Ali and Liane Dbaibo.
• 4x50 m freestyle relay (girls 14-15 years): 1:57.91 min with the same team.
• Mixed 4x50 m freestyle relay (14-15 years): 1:51.29 min with Thea Obeid, Yasmina Hajj Ali, Omar Sinno and Rafic Nsouli.
• Mixed 4x50 m freestyle relay (16-17 years): 1:54.15 min with Ahmad Kayelo, Skye Aoun, Naya Yazbek and Mohammad Daoud.
Tribute to Behind-the-Scenes Work
Leading the successful delegation, national coach and Academy director Mohamad Sakr praised “the hard work and dedication of each swimmer,” and also highlighted “the unwavering support of the families,” the contribution of coaches Abed Ghtaiss, Seif Morgan and Samar Morgan, as well as the logistical support provided by Rajaa Khaliffeh. A true team effort, both in and out of the water.
