The number of municipalities won by acclamation in Mount Lebanon now stands at 68 out of a total of 333, according to information obtained by al-Jadeed on Saturday.
In these localities, only one list of candidates was submitted per municipality, making voting unnecessary and automatically guaranteeing their election.
The last official figure, communicated by the authorities on Thursday, April 24, was 62 municipalities. Candidates had until April 28 to withdraw.
In addition, it was decided on Saturday to postpone the elections in Naameh and Harat al-Naameh in order to ensure the electoral process runs smoothly.
This decision comes after recent attempts to separate the two localities – which had previously been combined into a single municipality – by creating a separate entity for each.
