36 Municipal Councils Elected by Acclamation in Mount Lebanon

Ahead of the long-awaited municipal elections set to start on Sunday, May 4, a total of 36 municipalities in Mount Lebanon have been elected by acclamation, out of 330 in the region.

In these areas, only one list of candidates was submitted per municipality, eliminating the need for a vote and automatically securing their election.

The breakdown is as follows:

  • Shouf District: 7 municipalities were elected unopposed.

  • Baabda District: 3 municipalities—Delibeh, Batbiyat, and Jouret Qarsoun—were decided by acclamation.

  • Aley District: 8 municipalities, including Kfar Ami, Batloun, Qamatia, Hamadoun, Ain al-Rummaneh, Ain al-Sayeda, Serrahmoul, and Bakhshtieh, saw no contest.

  • Jbeil District: 5 municipalities—Ada, Al-Mansaf, Al-Mazareb, Arasta, Dawtah, and Al-Fidar—were confirmed without elections.

  • Metn District: 5 municipalities—Qurnat Shahwan, Jouret al-Balut, Kafrti, Qanaba Barmanah, and Kfar Aqab—were elected unopposed.

  • Keserwan District: 8 municipalities, namely Baqaata Kanaan, Zaitra, Jouret Badran, Kafour, Bizmar, Eir al-Rayhaneh, Maasara, and Shnanir, were also elected by default.

The upcoming elections mark the first municipal vote in nine years.
