Internal Security Forces (ISF) and Lebanese Army Intelligence units set up checkpoints on Thursday in Beirut’s Ghobeiry and Chiyah areas, targeting violations related to unlicensed weapons and vehicles with tinted windows.

These heightened measures signal a renewed effort by Lebanese security apparatuses to enforce the law in areas traditionally considered Hezbollah strongholds.

Authorities intensified inspections on Thursday afternoon in various parts of the country, checking the licenses and documentation of vehicles with dark-tinted windows. The widespread measures extended across Beirut, the north, the Beqaa Valley and the south, causing significant traffic congestion, particularly at the al-Awali checkpoint at the northern entrance of Saida.

This crackdown comes in response to an official request issued on April 15 by Beirut Governor Judge Marwan Abboud, who urged security forces to address motorcycle traffic violations and restore law and order. Abboud also called for a ban on tuk-tuk vehicles within Beirut city limits.
