Prime Minister Nawaf Salam spoke by phone with his Jordanian counterpart, Jafar Hassan, expressing Lebanon’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Jordan in the face of plots aimed at undermining its security and stability.

Salam conveyed Lebanon’s readiness to cooperate with Jordanian authorities regarding reports that some individuals involved in these plots may have received training in Lebanon.

He stressed that Lebanon firmly rejects being used as a base or launching point for any activity that could threaten the security of any brotherly or friendly nation.

Lebanese sources told al-Hadath TV that Beirut has not received any official complaint from Amman regarding alleged training on Lebanese soil. However, contacts are ongoing between the two capitals to determine the nature of the threats Jordan has faced and to identify the parties involved.

“Lebanon remains committed to maintaining strong and positive relations with all Arab countries,” the sources added.

Earlier on Tuesday, Jordan announced that it had foiled plots to destabilize national security and incite chaos and sabotage within the Kingdom.
