Tensions persisted on Wednesday as Israel carried out two drone attacks in Chaara, on the Lebanese-Syrian border mountain range, while drones flew at low altitude over towns of Nabi Chit, Janta, Chaara, Serhine and Deir Qanoun al-Nahr in south Lebanon

The sound of explosions in the eastern mountain range also rocked the outskirts of Taybeh, east of Baalbeck, on Wednesday morning as the Lebanese army detonated several unexploded ordnances.

At the same time, a large-scale military exercise led by Israel's Northern Military Command began on Wednesday morning and will continue until Thursday. In a message published on X, the Israeli army's Arabic-speaking spokesman, Avichay Adraee, said “operations will be concentrated in the western sector of the border with Lebanon, along the front line as well as the coastal area.”

“This exercise aims to strengthen the operational readiness of Israeli forces to a variety of scenarios, including securing the region and responding to any immediate threats that may arise on the ground,” Adraee wrote on X.

“The training will involve cooperation between several branches of the army, with the participation of ground, air and naval forces. Residents of the region will be able to observe increased troop deployment, as well as sustained air and sea activity,” he said, adding, “this maneuver is part of the annual training plan for the year 2025, and is not the result of any imminent security threat.”
