The Metropolitan of Beirut, Elias Audi, stressed that after decades of conflict, only the state and the military have the legitimacy to protect and defend all citizens.
During his sermon on Sunday, he urged Lebanese citizens to recognize the destructive consequences of neglecting state authority. He warned that the lack of loyalty to the state and its institutions threatens the nation’s stability and pushes it closer to ruin.
“The weakening of the state weakens everyone,” he stated, calling on all parties, groups and individuals to open their eyes to the current atrocities.
He emphasized that compromising Lebanon’s sovereignty endangers the future of its people, particularly their children.
