Israeli army bulldozers carried out digging and terracing work inside Lebanese territory on Wednesday, especially on the Rmeish hills in the Bint Jbeil caza, near a Lebanese army barracks.

Israeli units “deployed tanks and earth-moving equipment in this border area, intensifying their military activities close to Lebanese territory,” reported the Saudi channel Al-Hadath, citing a Lebanese security source.

Shortly afterwards, the Lebanese Army's orientation directorate announced in a press release that a unit of the armed forces “had proceeded to remove a barbed wire fence recently installed by units of the Israeli forces inside Lebanese territory, in the Birkat Risha region, in the south of the country.”

In addition, the statement also said that the army is “monitoring the situation in order to remove the embankment that was erected near a Lebanese army barracks in Rmeish,” as mentioned above.

These events come on the heels of the Israeli government's announcement of the creation of “three working groups” with Lebanon, focusing on unresolved border disputes between the two countries.

Also on the ground in southern Lebanon, two Israeli Merkava tanks moved towards the Halwani area, on the outskirts of the town of Ramya in the Bint Jbeil caza. In addition, an Israeli drone flew over the area, broadcasting anti-Hezbollah messages via loudspeaker.

Israeli forces also carried out a vast sweep operation on Hamames hill, in the Marjayoun caza. They also opened fire on farmers and workers in the nearby orchards of Sarda, without causing any injuries.

Earlier in the morning, Israeli drones flew over Hermel at low altitude. They were also heard over Beirut and its southern suburbs.
