Beirut Club won the Dubai Basketball Championship, beating the Tunisian national team 80-72 in the final on February 2. After a controlled first half and a more complicated third quarter, the Lebanese club kept its composure to lift the trophy.

For his first final at the helm of Beirut Club, Jad el-Hajj relied on his usual major five: Sergio Darwish, Ali Mezher, Ali Haidar, Ricky Ledo and Kenneth Kadji.

An Explosive Start

From the outset, Tunisia set a high tempo, but Beirut quickly responded with a 9-0 run within a minute, taking the lead. The first quarter ended with Lebanon in the lead (27-19).

In the second quarter, the Tunisians tried to accelerate, but their haste cost them dearly. Their ineffective shooting allowed Beirut to extend their lead thanks to solid zone defense. At the break, the Lebanese team comfortably led by 17 points (52-35).

A Tense Third Quarter

Despite this lead, Beirut struggled in the third quarter, particularly due to accumulated fouls. The team scored just 10 points in this period, allowing the Tunisians to reduce the gap to 9 points (62-53).

Beirut Club Takes Control of the Final

In the final quarter, Tunisia attempted a comeback, notably through free throws, but Beirut held on to its advantage. Ricky Ledo, imperial at the end of the game, prevented any comeback. Beirut controlled the final minutes to win 80-72 and claim the Dubai tournament title.

Beirut Club's flawless record, beating every team in its path, confirms Lebanon's domination of the regional basketball scene. This victory is a further demonstration of the club's passion and excellence.
