The Lebanese army has entered on Saturday the army unit headquarters which has been isolated for 10 days in Aitaroun, in order to reopen the main road and secure its surroundings after it was blocked by Israeli bulldozers. In a later phase, the army plans to deploy in the town after the Israeli withdrawal. The Lebanese army's entry does not mean that civilians will be allowed full access to the town.
The municipality of Aïtaroun has warned residents against returning to the village while the Israelis are still positioned there. In a statement issued on Saturday, it called on residents to wait for authorization from the Lebanese army in this regard.
The Israeli army had begun withdrawing some of its vehicles from central Aitaroun toward the eastern outskirts, setting fire to the Harika area at the town’s eastern edge during its retreat.
Meanwhile, an Israeli drone dropped two bombs in Taybeh.
In parallel, rescue teams from the General Directorate of Civil Defense, in coordination with the Lebanese Army, have been searching and conducting operations in areas previously targeted during the war.
On Friday, the remains of one person who was killed were found in the Al-Jalahiya neighborhood in the town of Khiam, and transported to Marjayoun Governmental Hospital, under the supervision of the relevant authorities to determine their identity.
During the night, an explosion was heard in the vicinity of Khardali, but its nature remains unknown. Also, Illuminating flares were seen over Tal al-Nahas, north of the town of Kfar Kila, accompanied by bursts of Israeli machine-gun fire.
