The Israeli Army is continuing its ground incursions into southern Lebanon, in violation of the increasingly precarious ceasefire agreement which came into force on November 27.

Israeli soldiers positioned themselves in the area between Taybeh and Deir Syrian on Sunday, near the former Civil Defense center.

In this context, Kandice Ardiel, UNIFIL deputy spokesperson, announced that she had been informed by the Israeli Army that “the safety of peacekeepers cannot be guaranteed in the Taybeh area, and that patrols should avoid this zone.”

Additionally, she reminded the Israeli Army of its responsibilities under Resolution 1701 to guarantee the security and mobility of peacekeepers within UNIFIL's operational region in southern Lebanon.
