The Ministry of Agriculture condemned the ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon's agricultural sector, including the recent destruction of the seedling multiplication project built in Wadi Houjair in 2020 with funding from the European Union and support from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
In a statement, the Ministry said, “This is one of the key projects aimed at improving food security in Lebanon and supporting local farmers in the production of agricultural seedlings.” As such, it is part of the Ministry's ongoing efforts to improve agricultural production and achieve sustainability in this vital sector.
The Ministry also called for “urgent action to stop these ongoing violations and to put pressure on Israel to comply with international resolutions that prohibit the targeting of civilian agricultural facilities.”
