The Israeli army advanced further into southern Lebanon on Friday, establishing positions in Deir Mimas and the Beaufort Castle area. They moved closer to Naqoura while intensifying their strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut.

Israeli checkpoints have been set up around Deir Mimas, where tanks have been deployed in the village and in the Hora sector, located between Deir Mimas and Kfar Kila, a border village currently occupied by the Israeli army.

Israeli forces blocked the western entrance to Deir Mimas using a bulldozer and a tank, turning back a military convoy that was traveling alongside a UNIFIL patrol from Nabatiyeh to Marjeyoun.

Additionally, they established a checkpoint on the Khardali road at the Kfar Kila - Qlayaa intersection, Bourj el-Moulouk, blocking this route and turning away vehicles attempting to enter the area.

Another Israeli unit positioned itself on a hill facing Beaufort Castle, along the Marjeyoun-Nabatiyeh road, a highly strategic site overlooking vast areas of southern Lebanon.

Tel Aviv appears to have escalated its offensive against Lebanon. At the same time, uncertainty continues to surround the outcomes of the mission led by American envoy Amos Hochstein to reach an agreement for a ceasefire.

On the morning of Independence Day in Lebanon, Israel issued multiple evacuation warnings in southern regions and Beirut’s southern suburbs. Early on Friday morning, Israeli spokesperson Avichay Adraee warned of imminent bombardment in al-Taybeh, Aadchit al-Qusayr, Deir Siryan, Burj al-Shemali, Maachouk and Tyre in southern Lebanon, as well as al-Hadath and Haret Hreik in Beirut’s Dahyeh. An hour later two Israeli airstrikes hit the town of Naqoura in the Tyre district, and an Israeli airstrike targeted the industrial area as well as Al-Housh area, with warplanes flying constantly at low altitude over the skies.

Following the warnings, the Israeli army also launched extremely intense airstrikes on the Kafaat-Hadath area in the southern suburb. Loud explosions from missiles crashing into the targeted location were heard, and thick smoke rose in the vicinity of the Lebanese University. Subsequently, heavy gunfire was reported as a further warning to evacuate the area.

The Israeli army reported having targeted Hezbollah complexes in Beirut's southern suburbs following the group's launching of rockets toward Haifa overnight.

Suspicious Threat Calls Cause Panic

Residents in Beirut, Furn el-Chebbak, Dekwaneh and Mar Roukoz reported receiving suspicious threat calls, spreading panic among locals, particularly in areas with schools hosting displaced individuals. Additionally, a hotel in Raouche housing displaced persons was evacuated after a resident received a warning from the Israeli army to leave immediately. The warning sparked chaos and fear as residents scrambled for safety. However, reports confirmed the call was fake.
