Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit has postponed a planned visit to Lebanon, initially scheduled for the end of this week, according to informed sources.

The visit was intended to address the ongoing ceasefire discussions under a US-French proposal and explore ways to expedite the ceasefire and the long-stalled presidential elections needed to stabilize Lebanon’s institutions.

While no official reason for the postponement was provided, opposition sources suggest the delay is linked to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's refusal to agree to a ceasefire. Israel has reportedly continued its military operations, targeting Iran's influence in the region, even as Washington scales back its efforts to push for an immediate cessation of hostilities.
