- Exclusive: Trump States U.S. Decision Not to Attack Iran Due to Cancelled Executions
Speaking to the press on Friday, President Trump stated that his decision not to attack Iran was not influenced by Arab and Israeli officials, but rather due to Iran cancelling the mass-execution of 800 protesters.
When asked why he made this decision, he stressed that “nobody convinced me, I convinced myself. [Iran] had yesterday scheduled over 800 hangings…they canceled the hangings, that had a big impact.”
However, when asked to clarify if help is still on the way for the Iranian people, he added that “we’re gonna see what happens.” Earlier in the press briefing, Trump highlighted U.S. military strength through tactical successes in Iran and Venezuela, suggesting the capacity and willingness for further intervention if aligned with U.S. interests.
Following the swift capture of Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro and his wife on the grounds of a criminal indictment and intensified rhetoric towards the status of Greenland, the question of U.S. intervention in Iran remains on the table. However, as the pace of protests in Iran slows under brutal government crackdown, it is probable that the decision over whether the U.S. will militarily escalate will continue unresolved while leaving Iran with a warning.
