The United States’ Ambassador to Lebanon, Michael Issa, issued a statement Thursday praising Lebanon and Israel for opening a channel of dialogue at a sensitive moment, signaling “a sincere willingness to pursue peaceful, responsible solutions grounded in good faith.”
Ambassador Issa emphasized that durable progress can only be achieved when both sides feel their concerns are respected and their hopes recognized. He stressed the importance of compromise, understanding, and principled leadership as essential components of any lasting solution.
The ambassador also welcomed the Lebanese government’s decision to embrace dialogue after decades of uncertainty, calling it a constructive step toward creating pathways for peaceful and dignified coexistence between the two nations.
Reaffirming the United States’ commitment to Lebanon, Issa said Washington stands ready to support initiatives that advance peace, stability, and security, and to help populations affected by long-standing physical and moral hardships.
In addition, Ambassador Issa expressed appreciation to the government and people of Lebanon for the warm reception given to His Holiness Pope Leo XIV during his recent visit. He praised the professionalism and unity demonstrated in hosting the historic occasion, saying it reflects Lebanon’s enduring spirit and ability to rise above challenges when necessary.
