An explosion of unknown origin shook the town of Kafr Takharim in western Idlib on Wednesday, injuring several civilians, according to local sources.

A correspondent on the ground reported that the blast—likely linked to an ammunition depot containing rockets—sent a large plume of smoke into the air and caused significant damage in an agricultural area on the outskirts of the town. Residents said they heard the sound of a projectile exploding shortly before the blast.

A medical report from Wassem Hussino Hospital said ten civilians were injured.

Syria’s Civil Defense teams immediately launched search operations to locate possible victims under the debris, while local security forces opened an investigation to determine the cause of the explosion.

Syrian authorities have so far provided no information on the exact circumstances of the incident.
