According to an Israeli media outlet citing government sources, the United States is reportedly considering the construction of a major military base near the Gaza border, with an estimated cost of $500 million.
This move would reflect Washington’s intention to increase its direct involvement in the Israeli-Palestinian issue.
According to a report reviewed by the outlet, the base would be intended to host several thousand troops tasked with supporting the enforcement of the ceasefire and assisting international forces operating in the Gaza Strip.
The same sources indicate that discussions are already underway between U.S. officials, the Israeli government, and the military, which has reportedly begun scouting potential sites in the areas surrounding Gaza.
