U.S. president, Donald Trump, addressed a new message from aboard Air Force One as he returned to Washington, following the summit in Egypt aimed at consolidating the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, according to MTV.
Trump stated that “peace in the region is not a matter of chance, but the result of the firm will of the United States,” adding that the next step will focus on the reconstruction of Gaza in coordination with Washington’s allies. “Those who reject this path choose chaos over peace,” he warned.
Asked about the longer-term political prospects, Trump declared, “I will decide what I believe is right for the future of Gaza and the Palestinians, but it will be in coordination with other nations.”
While acknowledging that “many support a one-state solution, others support a two-state solution,” he chose to defer the debate: “I am not talking about one state, or double state, or two states. We are talking about rebuilding Gaza.”
“It’s not about one country or two. It’s about rebuilding Gaza. I will decide what is appropriate, in consultation with our partners,” he added.
In response to critics who consider his peace declaration premature, Trump retorted, “Do they want the war to continue? We acted at the right moment.”
The president also praised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi, and his close ties with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He emphasized that “coordination with strong leaders is the key to ending conflicts.”
Trump concluded his message by stating that “the peace achieved in the Middle East marks the beginning of a new era,” pledging to “continue defending this peace and a strong America… even after leaving the White House.”
