According to the US outlet Axios, President Donald Trump is planning to host a summit bringing together several world leaders to discuss the situation in Gaza during his official visit to Egypt next week.
The meeting aims to rally broader international support for the Trump administration’s peace plan for Gaza, as key issues, including governance, security and postwar reconstruction, remain unresolved.
Citing informed sources, Axios reports that the leaders or foreign ministers of Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Indonesia are expected to attend.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not expected to take part in the summit at this stage, the sources added.
US officials confirmed that Trump intends to attend the summit, while the White House declined to comment.
