Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal arrived in Qatar for a two-day official visit that underscored Doha’s ongoing commitment to Lebanon’s stability and the strong ties between the two nations.
Invited by Lieutenant General (Pilot) Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Mannai, Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces, General Haykal was welcomed with full military honors at the Ministry of Defense before engaging in talks focused on strengthening cooperation between the Lebanese and Qatari armies.
During meetings with Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, the Qatari leader reaffirmed his country’s “steadfast support for Lebanon, its institutions, its army and its people.”
General Haykal expressed heartfelt appreciation for Qatar’s continuous backing, describing it as “support that comes without conditions, one that is genuine and brotherly.” His message reflected both gratitude and the hope that Lebanon’s international partnerships will continue to help its army remain a pillar of stability at home.
Haykal also met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Thani. The discussions covered security developments in Lebanon and the region, the Lebanese Army’s ongoing operations to safeguard peace across the country, and its cooperation with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in the south.
