Residents of southern Lebanon were shaken in the early hours of Friday by a series of Israeli airstrikes on the wooded hills of Ali Taher, near Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa.
The Israeli army claimed responsibility for the attack and announced through its Arabic-speaking spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, that it had struck a Hezbollah site.
In a statement published on his X account, Adraee said the post, located in the Jabal Chaqif area of southern Lebanon, was being used for terrorist activities by the Iran-backed group. He added that the strikes targeted weapons, military buildings and underground infrastructure.

Launched around 5 AM on Friday, the successive raids created a “belt of fire” around the targeted area. The blasts were felt across much of southern Lebanon and triggered major forest fires. Civil Defense teams were immediately deployed to try to contain the flames.
The explosions also damaged dozens of homes near the strike zones, causing cracks, shattered windows and material damage in several shops. This marks the fourth large-scale attack on the wooded area since the cease-fire of November 27, 2024.
Meanwhile, Israeli aerial activity remained intense over southern Lebanon. Drones were observed flying at very low altitude over Nabatiyeh and its surroundings, as well as over Saida. Machine-gun sweep operations were also carried out from Rweissat al-Alam toward the outskirts of Kfarchouba. In addition, an Israeli helicopter dropped a stun bomb near a fisherman off the coast of Naqoura.
