A meeting reportedly took place between the UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Sheikh Abdullah conveyed “the UAE’s decisive position closing the file on Israeli annexation of Palestinian lands,” wrote Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the UAE president, on X.

He added that the meeting “represents a bold step in support of international efforts to end the war in Gaza, achieve a permanent ceasefire and alleviate the humanitarian crisis while advancing the path to peace.”

A senior Emirati official confirmed that Israel will not pursue annexation of the West Bank. US President Donald Trump also stated that such annexation “is not going to happen.”

Earlier this month, a senior UAE official had warned that annexation would cross a “red line” and “end the vision of regional integration.”
