President Joseph Aoun departed Lebanon on Saturday for New York to take part in the United Nations General Assembly, where he is set to deliver Lebanon’s official address.
Accompanied by First Lady Neemat Aoun and a team of advisors, the president’s schedule includes a series of meetings with international leaders to discuss Lebanon’s internal challenges as well as broader regional issues affecting the Middle East and the West.
During his stay, Aoun is also expected to meet members of the Lebanese diaspora in the United States to hear about their experiences, concerns and expectations regarding Lebanon.
The First Lady will also have a prominent role during the visit. She is slated to deliver Lebanon’s address at a high-level meeting marking the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women, convened by the President of the UN General Assembly.
The official Lebanese delegation will include Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi, who arrived in New York earlier, alongside Lebanon’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Ahmad Arafa.
