The Wall Street Journal, citing US officials, reported that the Israeli strike targeting Hamas leaders in the Qatari capital, Doha, was carried out using long-range missiles launched by F-15 and F-35 fighter jets from Red Sea airspace, at a distance of more than 1,800 kilometers.
According to the report, the US military was notified of the operation only minutes before it was executed and was not given precise details about the targets. American satellites detected the missile launches only at a later stage.
The bombardment struck a building in Doha where Hamas leadership was holding a meeting, destroying the middle floor while leaving the structure standing.
Israeli analysts warned that the attack reinforces Israel’s image as a “rogue state,” while US circles argued that the operation could complicate Washington’s plans to establish a joint regional air defense system, particularly given the presence of thousands of American troops at Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
