Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi held a phone conversation with his French counterpart, Jean-Noël Barrot, on Sunday, expressing gratitude for France’s pivotal role in renewing the UNIFIL mandate under optimal terms.

Barrot welcomed Lebanon’s adoption of the army’s plan to reassert state control over all weapons nationwide and reaffirmed France’s commitment to supporting Lebanese authorities in fulfilling their obligations and strengthening the Lebanese Armed Forces.

He also informed Raggi of President Emmanuel Macron’s plan to convene two major conferences: one dedicated to bolstering the Lebanese Armed Forces and another aimed at facilitating reconstruction and economic recovery when conditions allow.

Following the call, Raggi highlighted the discussion on X, emphasizing France’s continued support for Lebanon’s security and rebuilding efforts.
